Cycads

February 17, 2019

While cycads are ancient, certain extant species exhibit characteristics of now-extinct cycads that were prominent in certain Laurasian landscapes during the Jurassic and Cretaceous periods. The honeycomb visible on the trunks of the sago cycad (Cycas revoluta) are also present in the fossilized remains of Cycadeoidea marylandica.
